“Preliminary analysis suggests that the plane most likely caught the wing on the ground.”
Defense Express reports with a reference to MoD of Ukraine
This was announced September 26, by Minister of Defence of Ukraine Andrii Taran during a conversation with journalists at the crash site of the AN-26 aircraft.
“Everything went according to the plan; the plane performed training flights to train cadets. At the helm was a pilot — an instructor, the cadets took turns sitting in the right seat next to him to gain piloting skills and control of the aircraft, ”- said Andrii Taran.
According to the Minister, the preliminary analysis gives grounds to believe that most likely the plane caught the wing on the ground.
“The flight recorder is now on the plane, after analyzing the information recorded there, it will be possible to draw conclusions,” he said.
The head of the Defence Ministry noted that according to the preliminary assessment of flight safety experts, one of the sensors in the left engine of the aircraft failed. That is, not the engine itself, but one of its sensors failed. The Minister also added that the engine of the plane had more than five thousand flight hours in reserve before the next repair.
According to Andrii Taran, the plane was made in 1977 and is 43 years old. But the aircraft could have flown for another three years without renewing the resource. We are talking about the engines and the board itself. He also stressed that yesterday the plane made six takeoffs and five landings, and had to work until 11 PM. That is, everything went according to plan.
“Of course, there was a terrible tragedy, we will find out the causes. The final conclusions will be made after deciphering the flight recorders, ”- summed up Minister of Defence of Ukraine Andrii Taran.
