Despite the current conflict in the Donbas, Ukraine still enjoys self-sufficiency in the production of aircraft - from the design and development phase to the construction of transport planes. State Company “Antonov” (which is currently incorporated with the State-run Ukroboronprom defense industries group) retains its position as undisputed leader in this field. Today company “Antonov” actively seeks to forge international cooperation and promotes its most recent projects An-178 and An-132 airplanes, which have already found potential customers.

Ukraine has over the past several years been able to intensify military and technical cooperation with its international partners despite counteraction by Russia's propaganda machine. This is driven by the need to buy from the import market the armaments and technologies that the country’s military and public security services need on the one hand, and on the other, to improve export competitiveness of own domestic defense industries. SE (State Enterprise) Ukroboronprom and its affiliated companies are playing a key role in both efforts.
